How to Play “Money Talks” with Theory Notes

Derek Doepker contributed this video to Guitarist Nation to help you learn AC/DC’s “Money Talks”. He takes it a step further and breaks it down in music theory. Taking the key of G, notes of the scale that make up the hook, and the chords of the rhythm.

Key – G major

Consists of G (1), A (2), B (3), C (4), D (5), E (6), F# (7)

Chords:

G, C, and D which are the I, IV, and V (1,4,5) of the G scale.

Main melody

Iimplies a back and fourth between G Major and Gsus2 transitioning to Csus2.

Verse:

G, D, and C power chords built using only the 1 and 5.
