Learn Eric Johnson’s “Cliffs of Dover” with iPad App

On The Music Path just released version 1.2 of it’s lesson app featuring Eric Johnson. In it, he teaches the art of the electric guitar with “Cliffs of Dover”. The lesson includes full notation and tab, and EJ breaks down the song, as you can see in the video above, playing the song at half-tempo and full-tempo, with a split-screen shot of his left and right hands.

“Moving Forward” with Morrow’s Memory

Morrow’s Memory recently released their album “Moving Forward“, a solid entry into the hard rock genre. They’re a 6-man band from Metro-Detroit deriving the name “Morrow’s Memory” from the concept that everything in life becomes a memory of tomorrow.

The Sound

Punch in the face combination of vocals, heavy guitar, and head banging rhythm. While they’ve defined their own sound, I would draw parallels with a mix of bands such as Nickelback and Staind.

Lyrics & Vocals

Good balance of vocals with the music. Not too heavy one way or the other. To me, the lyrics speak to real life and are not full of overly complex similies and metaphors. The lighter songs “The Road” and “Behind Your Beauty” showcase this strong mix of lyrics and vocals.

Overall Rating

My favorite track is “Hero in the Dark”. The short guitar riffs are killer. I really like this album … I give it 4 out of 5 guitars.
