Expression Theory – Combining Color and Sound to Understand Music

I recently had a chance to talk with Kevin Sonderegger, CEO and developer of Expression Theory. I’ll publish my interview with him in a future post, but I just wanted to give you a heads up this concept for improving your understanding of guitar. Kevin originally developed Expression Theory to help people of all backgrounds learn or improve their musical abilities. I wanted to learn more about this because I feel that anything that can simplify and help you understand how music works is worth looking into.

“Before Expression Theory, musical instruction relied on a system of black and white notation. It was very difficult to memorize scales on guitars and pianos. A lot of time was lost in that approach. Expression Theory has applied colored stickers to these instruments.

Once applied the student or practitioner is immediately relieved from searching where he/she can play and begins immediately developing the muscle memory needed to establish the foundations of music. Before one would rely on mapping the fretboard with letters from the English alphabet, and now they can project a beautiful array of colors that map the musical staff.

We invented a new method of notation called(SET), which unlike sheet music, instructs the player which note needs to be played, when it should be played, and with what finger it should be played with!”

Visit the Expression Theory and how it can help you learn guitar and let me know what you think of it. Also, look out for the interview post in the near future.
