This guitar lesson app from Miso Music won the TechCrunch People’s Choice Choice Award. The “Plectrum” app has just recently been made available at the iTunes store for $2.99.
The app acts like a virtual guitar teacher by listening to the notes you’re playing, then advancing the music displayed on the screen accordingly. Unlike similar tab viewers, Plectrum will listen and scroll along as you play each note. It also has fingering suggestions for each note and chord, which is a nice touch. In addition to guitar, the app supports music for bass guitar, ukulele, banjo, and more.
The company intends to add premium songs to the lesson catalog every week by adopting a user-submitted content model. Songs can be purchased ranging from .99 cents to $2.99.

Van Halen has been in the news a lot lately with talk of a new studio album with the original members minus Michael Anthony. If you ever wanted to learn how to play more VH tunes, especially some of the lesser known ones but couldn’t figure them out, an A-Z tablature book is out. From DLR to Sammy to Gary, back to Sammy, with Mikey, without Mikey, back to DLR … yikes!, is this a band or a highschool soap opera? Anyway, this tab book is 1200 pages of aall 118 VH tunes. All the classic and even solos like Repect the Wind from the Twister Soundtrack
.
